About Me
Hello! I’m Wynn, a Cancer born in ‘98. I love cats and dogs (but when I see a snake, I instantly turn into a statue — no, I won’t go look at snakes). I enjoy playing with code to mess with the world, but I’m allergic to the word “work.”
Daily Life of a Tech Geek
- Writing Code: I love researching new technologies, from Web development to AI algorithms, but I refuse to be a soul-less CRUD tool maker. I also joke that I avoid Python because I’m scared of snakes.
Research: During my master’s, I was obsessed with intelligent computing and published 4 SCI papers (though I don’t want to mention them after the defense, but thinking about it, I’m still proud of them). (I have graduated!)- Watching Variety Shows: Occasionally, after a coding breakdown, I rely on TV shows to recharge. I like watching all sorts of variety shows (except talent shows).
- Playing Pool: I’ve been searching for a hobby that suits me, and now I’ve found that pool is pretty good.
Aspiring Life Blogger (Kind of)
My cooking skills are still stuck at the “boiling instant noodles with an egg without messing up” level, but I believe I’m just a wok away from being “China’s Little Master.” My current achievement: wrote a Python script to randomly generate recipes, which resulted in a chocolate stir-fried eggplant.
I’ve recently learned a lot of recipes, and I plan to start a column to document them!
Cat-Dog (Dream Version)
Currently, I’m cloud-raising cats and dogs (my partner has a tabby). My dream is to eventually own a Shiba Inu (stubborn breed) (now, maybe a Border Collie) and teach them to write Hello World with their paws.
Why I Built This Blog
Though I have a computer science background, I became aware of the blog site idea quite late (I used to write notes with Typora). I’ve tinkered with several versions of blogs (using WordPress, Hexo, Astro, React…), and even tried building a site from scratch (though I have no design skills). This blog mainly serves to record my growth journey (tech, life, work, etc.).

About This Site
To be honest, I’m a bit embarrassed that my blog has been through so many iterations, and none of them have stuck (the hand-coded sites are all stored in my Github repository, leaving some traces).
The last site I worked on was built with React. My motivation back then was simply to learn React by building it. Although it was functional in the end, something always felt off, and the page loading speed was slow. After getting busy with work, I couldn’t bring myself to upgrade or improve it, so I just left it as is.
Eventually, I became tired of the aesthetics (also because I don’t know design, so I just followed my instincts), and felt that simplicity was better. After browsing through theme stores, I ended up choosing the retypeset theme. It’s clean, refreshing, and the typography feels just right. After forking it, I couldn’t resist making some adjustments:
- Changed the article page list fonts to differentiate the title and summary by adjusting the font size for clearer structure.
- Adjusted the markdown table style to a three-line format (looks very academic).
- Added an archive page to organize articles by year and month.
- Added homepage content to make me feel more comfortable.
- Considering adding a search function (I’ve used Algolia before, but it was a bit tedious; now I’m looking into Pagefind and will try it out later).
Through all the tinkering, I realized that sometimes the simplest solution is the most practical. I’ll probably continue to make adjustments, but for now, it’s good enough, and I can focus on writing content.
